Do you ever feel lost? Feel like you have no direction? And even worse, completely unsure of your goals? That was me a year ago.
After completing a Real Degree that I never liked and a running photography business on the side, I decided to escape all my doubts and leave France for a new country. So there I went, off to Australia.
I was hoping that it would give me answers to all my questions. Who I am? Who would I like to be? Who are my real friends? I went off looking for myself.
To qualify for my second year visa I had to complete 6 months work on a cattle station, where I learned to speak English. I used this time to gather all the experiences and failures I could muster. It was not an easy time but along the way I met many beautiful people, with different lives and values to me. These experiences helped open my heart and my vision about my own life.
So for the remainder of my visa I decided to settle myself in Melbourne, Australia. I opened my fashion and portrait photography business and work very hard on it. Every day I am up 7:00am (hmmm ok...maybe 7:30am...after I snooze my alarm...) and every week I send hundreds of emails, draft magazine submissions, organise photoshoot, edit loads of pictures, prepare newsletters and try keep up with social media and all while I try to stay in contact with my friends and family from Australia and overseas. Sounds pretty tiring, right?
But you know what? I am not tired of it. I love what I am doing and I found who I am and who I would like to be; an international fashion photographer. I am preparing a big project at the moment and it’s going to be a new concept on the market.
Certainly, I have a rocky path ahead of me, but c’est la vie, this is the adventure!
This picture has been taken by my friend Joshua Fraser in Philip Island during a sunrise session. We just slept 3 hours this night, taking pictures of the stars just before.
I would like to thank him for his friendship and for all his help and support. For all the hours he spent helping me with my business, his bad French that makes me laugh and for all his wise words.
Finally, if you are feeling unmotivated and lost, just think of who you want to be. Write it down and stick it to your mirror. Every morning work for it! Just don't forget to love yourself and accept failure. Because we all are human. <3
