Last month, I met Alina’s family for my first Autumn family shoot in my favorite location, Kenwood House in North London. I love this location as it’s only a 15 minutes drive from my home in Alexandra Palace and it offers so many photo opportunities in a relatively small area.
Alina’s family is composed of her husband, Alexandru, (also a photographer), and their 3 kids; Eduard, 9 years old, Antonia, 6 years old and Amelia, 3 years old.
Alina is a mum blogger. I invite you to check her out on her Instagram. She travels around the world with her family and share tips and things to do in London.
As you may know, I focus mostly on young families with 1 or 2 children, but in this instance, I loved having a bigger family with older kids to photograph. Here is why:
-
They are more responsive to playing together as they are more used to it.
-
More variety in the poses
-
Older kids listen more to directions
During the session, we played a few games. Here are a few of the photography prompts that I have used during this session:
-
Run around mum and dad while they are kissing but keep your right hand on them at all times.
-
Blanket game: the parents shake the blanket and the kids have to run under as fast as possible.
-
Laying on the blanket: Who farts the most? (Daddy!!) Who sleeps the most?? (Eduard!!) And we ended on some tickling!
-
In front of the tree: What is the color of…. Kenwood House? My hair? The sky?
This creates movement and excitement with the kids. A lot of the time the parents message me after to tell me that the kids had a great time and asked about “the camera lady”.
So if you want to get awesome family photos this Autumn while having fun, don’t hesitate to contact me. I have a few availabilities end of November and early December 2022.
