Last October I went to Greenwich, South London, to photograph this gorgeous family of 4 for a newborn photoshoot. Lea and Hery, have two lovely children, Rio, 2 years old, and Jazz, only a few weeks old. Lea’s mum was also visiting so we used this opportunity to include her in the photos.
Lea welcomed me to their lovely townhouse. Their house was perfect for an at-home newborn photo session as they have a spacious open-plan living room with southeast windows. We also used the parents’ bedroom, located on the top floor. They have beautiful natural light coming from the skylight and the balcony doors so I didn’t even need to take my studio lights out of my bag.
As usual, I gently take directions and start off with the parents with each child, cozy on the bed, in their bedroom. Rio is a playful little boy who isn’t camera shy, so he made my life super easy. We played a few games and sang some songs in French and English while the family snuggled up, Lea breastfeeding little Jazz. Rio was so clever and careful with his little brother, he was even allowed to hold him.
As I was photographing them, I asked them some questions and parenting tips. They happily took the time to answer my questions; I will share their answers with you in my next blog post so stay tuned!
I loved the connection this family has, they really opened up to me, as you can see in the photos, I believed I have captured their true bond and love for each other.
In the second part of the session, we went to their living area and included the extended family.
I invited Nana to sit on the sofa for some photos with Lea, Jazz, and Rio. Nana has such a lovely smile, it was a pleasure photographing her with her grandchildren.
