This spring, I photographed the gorgeous Gosling Family in Tollesbury, Maldon. This beautiful location is only 1.5 hours away and we shot there with a beautiful sunset. The place was completely empty and it was so peaceful we had an amazing time playing in the mud, hugging to keep warm and exploring the marshes.

And the good news is that it’s only 1.5 hours drive from London. I love shooting in nature and this place just reminded me of home. I always had marshes and a marina near where I lived in France. But Tollesbury definitely has more of a British vibe.
Located in the Maldon area, in Essex, Tollesbury’s colours are so beautiful and vibrant, it’s like you’re living in a painting. The marshes are just incredible – all the beautiful plants and creatures you can see there. And the best part? The stunning sunsets light up the sky in all sorts of amazing colours. This place is just so peaceful and unspoiled, it’s like you’re in your very own secret paradise, which makes it the perfect place for family photography.

If you’re looking for a unique and varied location for some family photos, then Tollesbury is the place for you! Firstly, there’s the old boat house which makes a great backdrop for some rustic-style photos. Secondly, there’s the stunning red lighthouse boat which gives a wow effect in the background. So bring a change of outfit in case of an accident. But hey, we’re flexible, just make sure the new clothes are clean, ironed and ready to go. And if all else fails, just remember – I can always Photoshop out that dirty face later on – but I rather not so I’m always prepared and can whip a pack of wet wipes faster than a cowboy in a standoff.
