Family Photoshoot in Whitstable Filled With Love

A Story About Breaking the Cycle

Their Story

In March, I had the joy of meeting Sarah, her husband Anthony, and their two wonderfully wild boys for a family photoshoot in Whitstable. During our consultation, Sarah shared something deeply personal with me. Both she and Anthony grew up without strong father figures.

She told me how intentional she was when choosing her partner — someone who would always be present for her and their children, so their stories wouldn’t repeat. Breaking the cycle.

Sarah chose positivity for herself and her boys, and you can feel it in everything she says to them. Her strength is admirable, and her story inspired me to create a film that felt beautiful, relatable, and honest.

From Motherhood to Family

What started as a plan for a motherhood session quickly turned into a full family session. Even Anthony, a man of few words who doesn’t usually share his emotions publicly, joined in to record a voiceover.

Both parents wrote their own scripts — with a little help from me — and together we created something truly special. The film speaks for itself. I’ll let you watch it.

Their boys will now have this forever: a reminder not only of how their parents looked when they were small, but also how their love felt, and how their voices sounded.

The Session: A Family Photoshoot in Whitstable

At Home

We began in the cosiness of their home, where the boys felt most at ease. They made coffee, watched ants march along in the front garden, played with train sets, read stories, and cuddled up in bed. Just an ordinary day — and that’s what made it so special. It doesn’t have to be complicated, just you and your everyday.

By the Bridge

Then we headed out to a little bridge between Whitstable and Reculver Towers — one of my favourite tucked-away spots for families with curious little explorers. The boys were in their element: throwing stones into the sea, picking flowers, spotting rabbits, sailing a toy boat, and scrambling over rocks. Every moment was playful and natural, and their joy shines through in each frame.

Why I Loved This Session

What moved me most about Sarah’s family was the intention behind everything. Their story is one of strength, positivity, and rewriting the narrative for the next generation.

Sarah’s Words

*“Working with Alba was the most wonderful experience. She doesn’t just take photos — she tells your story.

She was amazing with the children, capturing beautiful moments even when our youngest wasn’t at his happiest.

When we watched our family video, both my husband and I were emotional. Alba captured our story in the most meaningful way, and we’ll treasure it forever.”*
